Waleed Alshalan was born in Saudi Arabia in 1981. He received a BSc in Computer Sciences from King Saud University in 2002, an MSc with distinction in Information Security from Royal Holloway, University of London in 2005, and a PhD in Information Security from Royal Holloway in 2011.
He is currently an Information Security Associate Professor, a member of the university’s Scientific Council, and a part-time consultant to several organisations. His research interests include privacy, identity management, federated identity, single sign-on, secure web protocols, self-sovereign identity, AI security and access control.
Beyond academia
His interests include painting, collecting, padel and writing novels. This website brings those apparently distant worlds into one coherent digital identity.
